June 15, 2017 marks a very important date for the Aviation, Space and Defense certification scheme. In accordance with Supplemental Rule SR-003, all new 9100, 9110 and 9120 audits are to be conducted to the new standards.
The IAQG OPMT wanted to provide an update on the status of auditor transition and the actions taken to assist the auditor population in successfully completing the transition.
In addition to the communications and activities conducted by the certification bodies, the IAQG OPMT has initiated various communications in an attempt to ensure successful completion of the transition activities.
Two recent communications that auditors may find helpful include the following materials:
- Information titled “Guidance and Recommendations for Assessments” section has been added to the IAQG Training FAQ site. This information identifies general steps that auditors may take to be better prepared to complete the online training and assessments required for 9100:2016; 9110:2016 and/or 9120:2016. This material is accessible at the following web address: https://www.iaqgtraining.com/view/faq.
- A webinar specific to 9120:2016 from an auditor perspective has been recorded and available for replay on the IAQG Requirements webpage. This may be accessed at the following web address: https://www.sae.org/iaqg/organization/9120.htm. In this webinar, Dale Gordon, International Document Representative and subject matter expert for 9120, provides details on specific changes to 9120:2016. He provides this information from the perspective of the author.
Auditors are also encouraged to review the deployment support materials that have been developed by the IAQG Requirements Team and available at: https://www.sae.org/iaqg/organization/requirements.htm#oversight.
In addition, as a result of a request from the Independent International Organisation for Certification (IIOC), the OPMT has eliminated the maximum number of retakes and reduced the wait period between retakes to 24 hours. These changes were implemented on May 18, 2017.
These changes apply to all 9100:2016 series auditor training assessments, including the:
- ISO 9001:2015 Pre-Assessment
- 9100:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessment
- 9110:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessment
- 9120:2016 Forms and Audit Reporting Assessment
The goal of the IAQG OPMT is to provide an effective and convenient approach for currently authenticated auditors to complete the required training while also ensuring effective audits and audit reporting. We continue to monitor the results and take actions to ensure that our goals and the goals of the various interested parties are achieved as effectively and efficiently as possible.
